Preparing for Your  Tour

The US State Department lists the following guidelines for international travelers.
Note that these are recommendations to avoid undue stress and/or inconvenience.

DOCUMENTS TO BRING

Passport

must expire at least 3-6 months beyond the last day of your stay.
must have at least 2 blank pages for stamps entering and leaving Italy and the USA.
make at least one copy and leave it with someone at home that you trust and can easily contact if your passport is lost.

Visa Criteria: NOT required for visits under 90 days.

Health
30 days worth of prescription medications in their original container.
Copy of medication prescriptions.
Letter from prescriber stating the purpose for which a medication is prescribed. 

Note: Some prescription drugs (including narcotics) and some U.S. over-the-counter medications are illegal in other countries. Check with the embassy of your destination(s) about regulations and documentation before you travel.
The CDC recommends that vaccinations are up-to-date for flu, pneumonia, Covid, etc.; however, Italy does not require these vaccinations for entry.​

INTERNATIONAL CALLING

Contact your cell phone provider to activate international calling that includes Italy

ADD 112 into your contacts for calling police or medical emergency services in Italy
ADD Italian phone numbers and email for the US Embassy

CURRENCY RESTRICTIONS FOR ENTRY into or EXIT from Italy:
10,000 Euros or equivalent.

 

TRAVEL PLANNING

  • ​Please email your travel information when your arrangements are set.   (besttour@besttourpuglia.com)

  • Your final destination is Bari Airport in Bari, Italy. 

  • Most major Airlines have flights to Milan or Rome, Italy. 

  • From Rome or Milan, take ITA or Ryanair to Bari Airport.

  • A driver with a van will meet you at the airport and transport you to the hotel.

Note: Evening flights from North America arrive in the morning of the next day in Italy. Connecting flights from Rome or Milan enable you to arrive in Bari later the same day.

WEATHER
Add Alberobello, Italy to your cell phone weather app to anticipate weather during your tour.
The maseria is located in Alberobello, an hour from Bari Airport.

THINGS TO PACK

  • bathing suit

  • beach shoes

  • sun hat

  • rain jacket or umbrella

  • sweater or jacket for cool mornings

  • comfortable walking shoes (already broken in)

  • casual clothes for walking, sight-seeing, eating out, shopping, lounging on a beach, a boat-ride, a cooking class, wine tasting, strolling about, & relaxing at the hotel.

  • charging cables for phones, hearing aides, etc.

  • Nico provides a plug adapter to fit Italian electrical sockets.
     

  • usual toiletries

 

Note: Walking tours may be along paved or dirt paths, and occasionally up/down some steep inclines.
